The Age of Reason
Once the ancient homeland of the Dwarves, the mines of Karth ran dry hundreds of years ago. During the great war the Dwarven nation was the first to fall, and the area became poor and destitute. However, despite the fact that the land no longer had riches to provide them, the Dwarves are a stubborn people, and most refused to leave their homeland.
After the founding of the Empire, the Dwarves became part of the Empire, and were given sovereignty over the province of Karth. While their mines still lay barren, the Dwarves became an industrious people, and made huge discoveries and improvements in manufacturing trade.
Karth was the heart of the industrial revolution, and is home to many factories. However, it is also home to some of the poorest people in the Empire. The factory owners keep getting richer and richer, while the factory workers stay poor. In the province of Karth, the chasm between the rich and the poor is larger and more obvious than in any other region of the Empire.
The capital of Kath is Annas, and ancient Dwarven city dug into one of the only mountains still standing in the province.
